_“Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of malicious behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”(Ephesians 4:31-32 ,TLB )_
TAKE RESPONSIBILITY OF YOUR CHARACTER
Christianity is not God's responsibility again but rather it's your responsibility. Your character is your responsibility! Change will not come until you continue to do something. Today's passage tells us some things God wants far from us, and other things God wants in us. These are developments that should be seen to accompany your claim to be a child of God.
God wants us to get rid of:
1. Bitterness (a deep hurt that is still affecting you).
2. Rage and anger. Do not accept your quick temper. Don't accept the fact that you are a quick tempered person, no! It's ignorance of God's Word. You are the one to control it.
3. Harsh words (to a person). Your age, position or temperament do not make it right. Learn to talk right, and also avoid talking when you are angry. Stop it.
4. Slander. These are evil, untrue words about others. Stop saying things about people that are not true. Stop making fun of little churches that are of God. Stop making fun of spiritual things you don't understand.
5. Malicious behaviour of all types. These are actions with malice (the intention to hurt or harm). Stop it.
Anything we are instructed to get rid of is actually something we have power over. As a person with God's Word in your heart, there's nothing you can't do and there's nothing you can't stop. Practice the Word of God anywhere and everywhere you find yourself.
Instead, God wants us:
1. To be kind to each other (actions that are intended to help, often before you’re asked for help).
2. To be tenderhearted. Be compassionate, always.
3. To forgive one another. Drop your grudges, early.
If you’re struggling to apply this, God is ready to help. He works in us to please Him:
_“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”(Philippians 2:13)_
My dear, if you want to apply these lessons in your life, do not look far away from you. Apply them in your relationships at home, at work, in church and with your neighbours. Start today, and continue.
|| PRAYER
Thank you Heavenly Father for this Word that shines in my heart, I live a victorious life full of joy and purpose. I'm not controlled by the elements of this world but I'm guided by the Spirit of God everyday to do the right thing in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen.
