A viral news fast circulating has it that, a university student took his own life after losing a huge amount of his tuition fees to sports betting. Betting they say might be addictive and it is advisable to seek help on how to refrain from it once you get addicted. Betting companies like Sportsbet, Bet365, and others have an option that users who feel they have been too addicted can use that option to sign out for some time and return when they feel they want to return. After the news of his demise, users shared their one cent to the ongoing conversation, some backlashed him for using his tuition on gambling which is fully assured he was going to win, others also added that, even after losing money to betting, committing suicide was the last thing he should have done.
Previously we have heard stories of people gambling high amounts on betting. A popular story was, about a company worker who used the sum of over ghc43k belonging to the company for betting and lost, he was later arrested and sentenced to prison.
