The Scotland international has been an important player for Man Utd in recent years but has fallen under Erik ten Hag.

The 26-year-old has made 37 appearances in all competitions but has only started 10 in the Premier League.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen joined Man Utd last summer and were prioritized in midfield when both were fit.

McTominay has a contract until 2025 but is expected to be sold this summer. Football Insider reports that he has 'told friends he wants to leave Man Utd'.

The midfielder 'wants regular game time when he is at the peak of his career and he' fears the club will consider signing another central midfielder this summer'.

A 'Man Utd source' has told The Sun Man Utd are 'not ready to pay a silly amount' for Mount and just want to 'go £60m'.

"The club are keen to make Mason Mount a Manchester United player," they told The Sun.

"They think he can go straight into the first team and make a positive difference for them. But they are not willing to pay silly sums and they have set the standard for what they will achieve, at £60m.

"Mason was intrigued by the idea of ??being able to connect with so many of his England colleagues like Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire. He made it clear to his advisers that United was now the club he wanted to be. and are pushing to make the deal a reality.

“But the arrival of Mason will send McTominay down and now he is at a stage in his career where he wants to play every week.

“There is no shortage of interested clubs and although United do not necessarily want to sell him, he will likely try and push to take the next step in his career. "Newcastle and West Ham are front and center but Brighton could also be looking to bring in a midfielder and think they can use European football to attract bigger names this summer."
