Eagle-eyed fans have criticized former England international Paul Merson for making a big mistake in his latest Premier League prediction column.

In his latest article for Sportskeeda, the 55-year-old wrote his thoughts on the scores he expects to see in the domestic season finale.

However, fans were quick to realize that the former Arsenal player had made a few blunders.

In the column, he said he believes relegation-threatened Everton will beat Bournemouth 2-0 and secure their spot in English football's top flight next season.

However, Merson also writes that Leicester City will beat West Ham 3-1 and they will also avoid relegation to the Championship. Of course, mathematically, the Toffees and Foxes cannot stay in the Premier League next season, because either team will officially be relegated after this weekend.

Elsewhere in the story, Leicester City vs Newcastle United's recent score has been misprinted. He was quoted saying it was a 1-1 draw, but it was actually 0-0 at St. James' Park.

After sharing the column on Twitter, netizens quickly responded to the former player about his mistakes.

One account that drew attention to the mistake wrote:

"Paul Merson here expects Everton and Leicester to win their games and stay in place, even if that's mathematically impossible."

Another said:

"I'm also intrigued by a lot of people saying Bournemouth have nothing left to fight for. Any three points they can get could help them move up two places in the Premier League, and that's a couple of million dollars. in the treasury. They won't enjoy the sunshine."

The third person wrote:

"Good news for everyone! Paul thinks Everton and both of us will be sober! Thank goodness I'm starting to worry."

Elsewhere, another fan made his own prediction for the weekend. They wrote:

"I thought Leicester drew 0-0 against Newcastle. My feeling is that they will continue by beating The Hammers. I think Bournemouth are underrated and without DCL it is impossible to see Everton beat them. ."

Entering the final weekend of the 2022/23 season, Sean Dyche's army is in 17th place with 33 points while Leicester have 31 points. A win over the Cherries at Goodison Park will help the Merseyside team in the domestic league for another year.

In another development, the Foxes need Bournemouth to win against Everton and they themselves need to beat Irons to stay in the Premier League.

Going downhill, but contrary to the former striker's thinking, either Everton or Leicester this weekend are certain to be relegated.
