Rival fans are poking fun at Arsenal's new home kit because it includes gold trims, with the real reason behind the look explained.
The Gunners have unveiled their new home strip for the 2023/24 season, and it features an interesting amount of gold despite the club's failed title attempt.
Mikel Arteta's outfit enjoyed large spells at the top of the Premier League table, but they collapsed during the run-in - with Manchester City successfully defending their crown.
People online have ruthlessly taken aim at Arsenal for having gold on their new home jersey as they referenced the club's failed title charge.

A second tweeted:
"Gold when they didn't even win the league?"
A third added:
"Gold trim because they thought they were going to be champions."

A fourth said:
"They think they've won the league."
Another joked:
"Nahhh the gold trims a vio, everytime they put it on they're reminded that they could've been champions."
However, the gold on Arsenal's new home shirt is a tribute to the 20th anniversary of the club's legendary 'Invincibles' side, who won the 2003/04 league title without losing a single match. Advertisement
Arsenal, home to superstar players like Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Roberto Pires among others, have enjoyed a campaign in which they have won 26 league games.
The 26 wins and 12 draws are sewn into the run-down strip next to their new strip while the yellow accents are all related to that famous Arsenal team.
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary, Ray Parlor said:
"Playing this season 20 years ago, surrounded by so many great players, is something I will never forget, and it's great to see that we are celebrating our club's history by playing wearing this new home shirt - which I think all the fans will look forward to. will love it."
