Concerns raised by JUSAG - candidate CJ are being addressed

Steps
are being taken to meetthe needs of the JudiciaryAssociation of Ghana (JUSAG), the elected judge, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo has announced.

The candidate who appearedbefore the investigation committee on Friday, May 26admitted that the process required to respond quickly has been slow. He answers questions about his work during his research.

“We (judiciaries) cannot be blamed for the slowness with which we respond to questions from the Ghanaian Judiciarybecause there are other important organizations thatinvolved in addressing their concerns," he explains. There is a national appeal of JUSAG.

JUSAG announced a strike on May 24 over the non-acceptance of a new salary structure and other paymentsfor its members. We will not stop our firefighting operationsuntil the problem is solved -JUSAG

The Judiciary Union of Ghana (JUSAG) has said that until their grievances are resolved, theirdeclared occupation will continue unabated.

JUSAG President
Samuel Afotey Otu told Kwabena Agyapong on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm that they have gone on strike because of the government's refusal to give its members revised salaries and other allowances. Afotey said the cost of living has become unsustainable and they are struggling to make ends meet.

He told the visitor that it was very difficult for them to buy food, that they did not have money for transport or fuel and that they could not come to work in these conditions. "We don't have money for fuel, we don't have money to buy food or even take a trotro, so we can'tcome to work.

We can no longer work under these conditions, so we have declared a strike and demandedthat our problems be addressed or we will continue to chant.

He lamented that the government continued to be careless and dishonest in terms of their work procedures and other matters because of JUSAG members.
