Shut up ! Stop declaring yoursupport for presidential candidate - Kwesi Pratt warns MPs and NPP leaders
The editor of Insight magazine,Kwesi Pratt has criticized the public declaration of support for the president by the leaders of the political party he belongs to.
As the ruling New Patriotic Party prepares for the presidential election, some regional leaders and party leaders have publicly nominated their favorites to win the election. Some arerooting for the country's Deputy President, DrMahamudu Bawumia, whileothers are campaigning for former Minister of Commerce,Alan Kyerematen, who is among the NPP flag bearer candidates. .
Mr. Pratt, speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', argued that it is inappropriate for leaders to declare their support for a candidate. For him, this is not good for the party because the leaders, according to him, are expected not to make known what they intend to do about the candidate.
He wondered why this traditionof leaders, ministers and others testifying for a person who did not support the party did not speak up to prevent them from continuing this practice. He toldleaders with such attitude to remain silent when it comes to selecting a presidentialcandidate.
"If you are a leader and know that you are participating in this election process, shut up!"
