According to sources who spoke to 90min, Manchester City is interested in acquiring Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich and is willing to use Joao Cancelo as a makeweight in the deal.
The midfielder was contemplating his future at the Allianz Arena, according to 90min, and several top European teams had been informed that he might be seeking for a new challenge.
Kimmich's position has now attracted the interest of Man City, who are looking for a midfielder. Their top target, Jude Bellingham, is expected to sign with Real Madrid, while Ilkay Gundogan, who is out of contract with Bernardo Silva, may leave the team this summer.
According to 90min, Man City has proposed a plan that might send Cancelo to Bayern on a permanent basis in the belief that Kimmich, who previously worked for Pep Guardiola, can fit in well with their midfield.
Surprisingly, the adaptable full-back left the Etihad Stadium for the Bundesliga at the tail end of the January transfer window. However, under Julian Nagelsmann, he initially struggled to make an impression.
However, Cancelo has played a more prominent part since Thomas Tuchel took over as head coach, and the 49-year-old wants to keep him in Bavaria.
In this season's Champions League quarterfinal matchup between Bayern and Man City, Cancelo was booed loudly after coming off the bench at the Etihad.
It is unclear whether Bayern will change their previous position in response to Man City's keen interest in Kimmich. Initially, Bayern's position was to not even consider any bid for Kimmich.
Man City has already won the Premier League and is aiming for the treble. They will face rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final before facing Inter in the Champions League final.
However, after relinquishing control of the title race last week, Bayern will need to defeat Koln and hope that Borussia Dortmund lose to Mainz in order to win the Bundesliga for an 11th straight season.
