President Akufo-Addo criticized former President Mahama in his Takoradi speech

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, while speaking during the inauguration of the Elmina Port on Friday, May 26, 2023, took the opportunity to throw shade at former President John Dramani Mahama.

The President's speech confirmed that the completion of the Elmina port is going welland answered the doubts expressed by Mahama in the past. While addressing the crowd gathered in Elmina, President Akufo-Addo expressed his gratitude to the people for trusting his government in this project. He reported cutting grass for the port on August 20, 2020 and thanked the residents for ignoring the noise. Specifically, he mentioned Mahama's visit to Elmina four months later, referring to the project as "sakawa port", explaining that Mahama had declared that it would not happen.

“I
thank the people of Elmina for trusting the Akufo-Addo government to carry out this project, which I inaugurated on August 20, 2020, and I thank them for not listening to the opposition. I remember after cutting grass, former presidentJohn Dramani Mahama, NDC presidential candidate, came to Elmina four (4) months later in December and described the port as "sakawa port ". . He emphasized in his statementthat the construction of the port of Elmina will not work at all,"the President said. With a touch of satisfaction, President Akufo-Addo reminded everyone that Mahama is not God, and expressed his joy that Mahama and the opposition are alive to see the work of Elmina port.

"It
is good that it is not God, and I am happy that he is alive today, with all the speakers, to see President Akufo-Addo commission the Elmina port," he said. The President recognizedthe importance of the Elmina port, which now joins the ports in Tema and Sekondi-Takoradi. He also said that the work is going on at the Jamestown port, the completion of which will bring the number of ports in the country to four. President Akufo-Addo assured the audience that his government is working hard to support the growth of the fishing industry by pursuing programs and initiatives that promote its development.

The construction of the Elmina port is a milestone in the fishing sector in Ghana.
