Gary O'Neil, the head coach of Bournemouth, is aware of the importance a victory against relegation-threatened Everton could have on the club's summer transfer spending.

Prior to a thrilling final day in which Everton, Leicester, and Leeds strive to avoid joining Southampton in the Sky Bet Championship, the Cherries' top-flight position is already certain.

Bournemouth is now in 15th place after a run of four victories in five games last month helped them escape the relegation zone.

The south-coast club may finish in 13th and earn an additional £4.4 million in merit awards if they earn three more points and other outcomes go their way.

O'Neil is aware of how valuable any additional funds would be for future initiatives.

O'Neill, who took over for Scott Parker at the end of August and has since won 11 Premier League games, admitted that from the perspective of a head coach, you are aware of the financial repercussions of being in the league and where you finish.

"The entire season was focused on what the players needed and our ability to perform.Of course, everyone at the club would benefit greatly from a victory and a move up to position 13.

But it would also be nice for me and the players to know that we went to a really difficult environment and gave a very strong performance to defeat a team that was in critical need.

Everton, who are two points above the relegation zone, are in control of their own destiny. The clubs behind them must win and hope Bournemouth, who were in the bottom three themselves at the start of April, can help them.

O'Neil is aware of the situation his team will face when they take the field at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Bournemouth manager stated at a press conference that "of course they will be well up for the game."

They'll make an effort to make it as difficult and terrifying as they can, but I find the assignment thrilling.Although I participated in a handful of those as a player, this is my first time doing so as a coach.
