Liverpool have agreed a deal to sell young talent Elijah Gift to La Liga side Athletico Bilbao, with the 16-year-old now set to return to his native Spain.

Liverpool youngster Elijah Gift is set to leave the club after the Red Devils agreed a deal with Athletic Bilbao for the talented winger.

Gift, 16, has made regular appearances for Liverpool Under-18s this season. He moved to Anfield at Under-12 level from Huddersfield Town after becoming prominent in the Terriers' youth squad.

While Gift was highly rated at Liverpool and the club were not actively looking to part ways with the teenager, a substantial offer from Bilbao forced him to rethink. Given the Red Devils are particularly good at attacking their youth team talent, Gift is now set to link up with the LaLiga outfit in a deal worth around £1m. That's according to The Athletic, who outlined the details of the deal. Gift is expected to return to his native Spain in Bilbao, where it is a policy that only Basque players are eligible to play for them. Gift was born in Corella, a town in the Basque Country.

Gift will join a quartet of high-profile stars who will also be leaving the club this summer:

Roberto Firmino, James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all bid farewell to the Anfield faithful in Liverpool's final home game last weekend.

Reports outlining the possibility of Gift leaving come less than 24 hours after Jurgen Klopp insisted he would personally fire any player who made it clear he did not want to stay at the club following a worthy tweet. concerns of Mohamed Salah. A tweet from the Egyptian superstar reacting to Liverpool's failure to qualify for the Champions League midweek has raised fears that the Reds' talisman is looking to leave over the summer. Klopp was quick to quash such talks - but made it clear he would not condone keeping a player unhappy with the club's current situation.
