The Championship Playoff Final victory by Luton Town over Coventry City on penalties has generated a lot of buzz on social media.

In the Wembley match, the Hatters prevailed despite Gustavo Hamer's equalizer canceling out Jordan Clark's first-half goal.

A scoreless extra period was followed by penalties, which Luton won after Chelsea academy player Fankaty Dabo missed his spot-kick over the crossbar.

For Luton, who has become the first team to ever complete the voyage of slipping down to non-league football and back to the English top-flight, it is a tale of rags to Premier League riches.

With the win, the Kenilworth Road team's 31-year exile comes to an end. They had to deal with point deductions, financial issues, and relegation before bouncing back during a stratospheric ascent.

Promotion to the big time costs Luton £170 million, and money will go toward constructing their new stadium, "Power Court," and preparing Rob Edwards' team for the difficulties of playing in the Premier League.

On a day that was somewhat soured by the club's captain Tom Lockyer needing to be taken to the hospital after collapsing in the first half, Luton supporters and opposition supporters congratulated the team on their historic accomplishment.

Social media users were giddy at the thought of Erling Haaland and Marcus Rashford of Manchester United playing at the under 15,000-capacity Kenilworth Road stadium next season.

Others merely expressed their astonishment and sympathy for 27-year-old Dabo, whose missed opportunity from 12 yards consigned Coventry to another campaign in the Championship.

An individual wrote: "Congratulations Luton. This season has been well deserved and great. Condolences go out to Coventry, particularly to Fankaty Dabo. It has to be among the worst feelings there are.

I find it hard to think Erling Haaland will play at Kenilworth Road in the upcoming season.

Another person said: "I actually can't believe Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne will represent Fairplay Luton at Kenilworth Road next season." That's some story.

Others pointed out the obvious by posting a photo of Luton's stadium along with the comment, "Luton have been PROMOTED after WINNING the play off tonight." The stadium has hosted some of the top teams in international football. It's absurd to believe that THIS stadium will host a Premier League game the following year.

Similar expressions of congratulations complimented the club for their great promotion, which has been a long time coming after it previously left the football league.

I'm really happy to have my former hometown back in the top league, according to another comment. For the rest of the Prem, Kenilworth Road will be a bit of a shock.

"Well done Luton," read the closing message. get to watch football games and folks taking showers.
