Barcelona risk losing another La Masia star to Paris Saint-Germain as internal concern grows

Barcelona has a long history of bidding farewell to talented young players, and often it is difficult to predict their future potential when they leave the club at a young age. However, there is a growing worry regarding the loss of talent in Catalonia at present. Over the years, notable players like Cesc Fabregas, Gerard Pique, and Hector Bellerin departed as youngsters, only to return later in their careers. Yet, there are also lesser-known names such as Sergi Canos, Jon Toral, and Mauro Icardi who left the club at a young age and found success elsewhere.

Adding to the concerns, Victor Barbera and Ilias Akhomach are poised to leave Barcelona for free. The next youngster expected to depart is Juan Hernandez, a 15-year-old winger known for his pace and one-on-one skills. Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly his likely destination. This follows a similar pattern seen a few years ago when Xavi Simons left La Masia for PSG, then moved on to PSV Eindhoven, and has now even earned a spot in the Dutch national team, showcasing his talent and potential.

Earlier this season, there were reports of dwindling confidence in La Masia head, Jose Ramon Alexanco. Negotiations for Lamine Yamal's initial contract were apparently handled by Director of Football Mateu Alemany instead. However, recent news suggests that Barcelona will continue with Alexanco in his position. Nonetheless, this latest development of young talent leaving the club will undoubtedly amplify the concerns surrounding Barcelona's ability to retain and nurture promising players.

The situation raises questions about the effectiveness of Barcelona's youth development system and their ability to hold on to talented prospects. La Masia, once renowned for producing exceptional players like Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, and Xavi Hernandez, seems to be facing a challenging period. The departure of young talents not only diminishes the club's future prospects but also highlights the competition they face from other European clubs, particularly Paris Saint-Germain, who have been successful in luring away promising youngsters.

Barcelona must address these concerns and find ways to retain their most talented young players, providing them with the necessary support and development opportunities. It is crucial for the club's long-term success to maintain a strong pipeline of homegrown talent, as it has been a defining characteristic of Barcelona's identity throughout their illustrious history.
