Marcus Rashford's contract with Manchester United is expected to be extended, according to manager Erik ten Hag.
The 25-year-old has been in the finest form of his career during 2022–23, and on Thursday, when he scored in the 4–1 victory over Chelsea, he became the first player since Robin van Persie in 2013 to score 30 or more goals in a season.
A total of 17 of Rashford's goals have come in the Premier League, matching his total from the previous season, while an additional 13 have come in competitions for the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and Europa League.
Rashford, a product of United's youth program, has already appeared in more than 350 games for the team across all competitions. However, his Old Trafford career appeared to be going in the wrong direction; his five goals in the 2017–18 season fueled rumors that he would leave Manchester.
But since Ten Hag came over last summer, things have changed, and Rashford is currently playing some of his finest football. Only one year remains on his United contract, but the Dutch manager is utterly confident that an extension will be reached without delay.
According to Ten Hag, Marcus Rashford will likely extend his contract. "He desires it. Manchester United is interested. He is a member of this club, thus I anticipate that this will occur.
The majority of Rashford's success this season has come from playing as a left-sided forward, but he has also been asked to play in the center due to Anthony Martial's continuous injury issues and Wout Weghorst's goal drought.
Given Ten Hag's transfer intentions this summer, playing out wide appears to be United's future. A first-choice striker to lead the line and a replacement for Weghorst, who will return to Burnley following a loan, are the two center strikers that 90min knows the Red Devils are looking to add to Ten Hag's roster this summer.
