Tom Lockyer, the captain of Luton, commended the medical professionals for their "swift and thorough response" after he collapsed following his team's triumph over Coventry in the Sky Bet Championship play-off final.

During the game, a defender was rushing back when he fell to the ground. He received medical attention before being stretchered off the field.

After Gustavo Hamer overturned Jordan Clark's early goal to tie the score at 1 after extra time, the game went to penalties, and the Hatters won 6-5 to earn their place in the Premier League for the upcoming season.

During their celebrations, Luton players held up Lockyer's shirt, and the skipper shared an update on Instagram.

Not quite where I expected to be celebrating at the final whistle, he remarked.

I just want to give a huge thank you to the fantastic doctors and physiotherapists at Luton and Wembley for the prompt and thorough response.

I'm sure that everyone else found it to be much terrifying than it was for me.I apologize to Coventry, who was a superb opponent in three games that needed to be settled on penalties.

I'm at the hospital right now as a precaution, and I'll stay here over night before having more testing in the morning.Because of the way the guys gave it their all on the field, I am feeling very much like myself. Being a part of this team, Premier League baby, is such an honor.

Luton's victory secured a return to the top flight for the first time since 1992 after an exciting Wembley final.

Given that the Hatters finished a five-season stint in the fifth division just nine years ago, the recovery is astonishing, although manager Rob Edwards acknowledged that feelings were "mixed" after Lockyer's collapse.

"I was a little numb. Simply put, I made sure to shake hands with Mark and his employees, Edwards added.

"I don't want to be that guy who just starts celebrating and running off before I even see the other manager," you might say.I was merely extremely numb. Still, I do. It hasn't really sunk in yet. Although it could take a few days, it's fantastic. It did feel nice, but I couldn't really go all out in my celebration because of Locks (Lockyer).
