DESCRIBED FROM GTECH COMMUNITY STADIUM - Thomas Frank, the head coach of Brentford, has revealed how his team defeated Manchester City.
The Bees completed the double over Pep Guardiola's group by defeating the Premier League champions 1-0 on the final day of the campaign.
Brentford won 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium in November thanks to a brace from Ivan Toney, while the game on Sunday was decided by a goal from Ethan Pinnock.
In his post-game press conference, Guardiola praised Frank and Brentford for their ability at set pieces.
Last year, we defeated Brentford twice; today, we fell short by a score of one. They are very challenging to disassemble. They are a fantastic and elite team on both sides - pressing high, defending deeply, showing unity, and making transitions quickly, he remarked.
Like a holding midfielder, "[goalkeeper David] Raya does whatever he wants."
"Brentford are by far the best team [at set pieces]," said Guardiola. However, it goes beyond that idea. It's a fantastic team. Thomas Frank and the work he has done for many years are both people I greatly admire. He's improving, now. You get the impression that he upholds the club's cohesiveness.
The FA Cup final between Man City and Manchester United and the Champions League final against Inter will now serve as the team's final two matches of the year.
Frank was asked in his own press conference what tips he would provide to Inter's Simone Inzaghi and Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag on how to defeat this formidable Man City team.
"That's an excellent question. You've given it some thought, which is excellent. Richard chuckled.
"I believe we were the best team in two games. You must play excellent defense since it is obvious that this is the best offensive squad in the world. We were able to defend extremely well, but not just in the low block. I believe you could tell today that we were courageous under intense pressure the entire time. I consider that to be important.
