In 2010, the Foxes were taken over by the family of the Thai investor.

Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, the chairman of Leicester, has rejected requests from certain fans to sell the relegated team and pledged the Foxes will quickly return to the Premier League.

Leicester entered the Sky Bet Championship despite defeating West Ham 2-1 on Sunday, two seasons after winning the FA Cup and seven years after being proclaimed English champions.

It is a dramatic fall from grace, and Leicester chairman Srivaddhanaprabha claims it is to blame for the rude and occasionally "outright abusive" remarks he has received.

Srivaddhanaprabha said in a statement posted on the Leicester website, "I have received a tremendous amount of letters from our fans, both positive and critical.

"Some want me to sell the club, while others have used crude language and have been downright hostile.

"However, for every harsh message I have gotten, I have also received messages of love, gratitude, and unity from people I have met in public and over the phone. These folks always stop by to say hi to me and my family. It is really important to us.

Leicester was acquired by Srivaddhanaprabha's father Vichai and his family in 2010 and joined the Premier League four years later. By winning the championship in 2016, Leicester may have created the greatest underdog story in English football.

In October 2018, a helicopter crash at Leicester's King Power Stadium resulted in the death of club president Khun Vichai.

"It was the most painful experience for me and my family, but the love and support we received from our Leicester City family made our bond even stronger," Srivaddhanaprabha said of the mishap.

"As chairman, I vowed to uphold the goals my father and I had set for the organization, to make sure that the realization of his plans for Leicester City would ultimately become his legacy.

"We want to thank you and let you know that our goals for Leicester City are the same as they were 13 years ago.

"We will gather all this love and use it to power our comeback. The wonderful support we had in our stadium yesterday, the fantastic words we have received from our supporters, and the constructive criticism we must take on board.
