Roberto Firmino's wife, Larissa, has sent a heartfelt message to Liverpool fans after her husband left the club.

Firmino played his final game for Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, scoring in a 4-4 draw against Southampton before being substituted in the 57th minute with an emotional farewell in the stands.

The goal marked his 82nd in the Premier League in eight seasons at Merseyside, where he has established himself as a player favorite.

But the 30-year-old has decided to end his career at Liverpool and is ready to be a free agent this summer.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid is one of the clubs interested in signing him. Romano revealed he is 'one of the names being considered by Real Madrid' but confirmed there are 'no talks, just 'internal discussions' about the Brazilian.

Wherever Firmino may end up next season, his wife will leave Liverpool with a heavy heart, taking to social media to share the love with the fans.

Despite a bad season in the Premier League, Larissa has only fond memories of his time at Liverpool, saying the club taught him that "love is worth it".

"We made it to the end," the model and fashion entrepreneur said on Instagram.

“We leave here with hearts full of love. It makes goodbyes more painful, it makes us remember everything, even before we say goodbye.

“But this love also drives us to do things all over again, to do things the old way, to really give ourselves, to really love, to give ourselves completely.

"Liverpool taught me that love is worth it. Thank you fans, thank you LFC, thank you to everyone who has been a part of this story. We will never forget you."

According to Anfield hero John Aldridge, Manchester United have been "lucky" to finish above Liverpool in the Premier League this season.

United recovered from a poor start to the campaign to finish third, two places and eight points ahead of Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp's side have performed well outside the top four for most of the season, but the Reds have won seven of their last nine to score late.

But Liverpool still have a lot of work to do as Manchester United break into the top four by Newcastle United, runners-up Arsenal and Premier League champions Manchester City.

Aldridge says Liverpool have had a "disaster season" but insists Erik ten Hag's side were "lucky" to finish in Champions League place above his former side. Writing in a column for Independent.ie, Aldridge said:

“Manchester United have been lucky on several fronts this season as they hit the finish line in their hunt for a top four spot.

“The Premier League top six have been steady over the past few years, with sporadic disruptions for a team like Leicester when they have had a stellar season.

"However, this is a season where everything is torn and meaningless. First, we had a World Cup that should never have happened in the middle of the season.

"It feels like two very separate stories - before and after the tournament in Qatar. “The break helped United manager Erik ten Hag when Cristiano Ronaldo was sent off from the club on the eve of this World Cup and if the season goes on it will be a big story.

“By the time the Premier League restarts, Ronaldo is already old news and United can continue the season without the circus affecting them.

"Another big driver of United in the top four has come from their rivals, especially Chelsea and Liverpool."

Aldridge, who starred in Liverpool's 1987-88 league championship, added:

“I can say that Liverpool had a miserable season.

“Injury issues were a factor in the run-up to the World Cup and having all the attacking players on the pitch at the same time was a big deal for Jurgen Klopp.

“The problem is that Liverpool's problems don't go away when all the players return. "It's been a bad season for Liverpool and United and has been praised for making tremendous progress under Ten Hag, they're just eight points apart."

Manchester United beat Fulham 2-1 at Old Trafford on the final day of the season, while Liverpool drew 4-4 with bottom team Southampton at St Mary's.
