Wout Weghorst marked the farewell match for Manchester United with a missed mark he dedicated to Old Trafford fans. The Dutchman came on from the bench to replace Marcus Rashford in the 77th minute of United's 2-1 win over Fulham in hopes of adding to his impressive list of players who missed out in the Premier League. this season.
In injury time, Jadon Sancho found Weghorst in an acre of space behind and the striker took advantage of the opportunity confidently. It was the 30-year-old's 236th miss since joining the club in January and appears to be his last for United.
"I want to dedicate this missed opportunity to all of you," Weghorst said emotionally to the Old Trafford crowd after the game. "Hearing you call me useless every time I send the ball over the post is a very special feeling."
"I've missed goalkeepers at every team I've played for, but nothing compares to missing an open goal at Old Trafford.
“I also dedicate that goal to all my teammates, who created countless clear chances for me to lose.
"And the manager, who persevered with me despite the first games where I scored a goal and was dangerous," he cried.

Meanwhile, Erik Ten Hag has confirmed that he will not be transferring Weghorst's loan permanently after he was found to have abandoned the striker during the election campaign.
Sources say Ten Hag stopped the car on a country road and asked Weghorst to check for a flat tire. But when the compatriot got out of the car, Ten Hag locked the door and sped off at high speed.
When he returned to Carrington, Ten Hag told the players and staff that the former Besiktas star had "come to live on a farm".
'There will be a lot of large fields for Wout to run around aimlessly. He will be happier there,” said the former Ajax coach.
