Following their thrilling 1-0 victory over 10-man South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley, Sheffield Wednesday manager Darren Moore praised a "joint effort" from his team and assured their return to the Championship.

Josh Windass triumphed in the match with the final play after more than 120 arduous minutes, following in the footsteps of his father Dean who won the play-off final 15 years prior.

After spending the previous two seasons in League One, Moore, who coaches the Owls, said: "This is a special moment. It's a delightful moment for everyone at the club."Having brought such a fantastic club back into the Championship means the world to me.This demonstrates what a club can do when everyone works together.

"I'm happy for Josh. We've missed him quite a bit this season due to injuries, but he has the ability and the instinct to score in those circumstances. But it's not just about Josh; it's been a fantastic team effort.Even though this was a big game at the largest stadium, and sometimes it's just a matter of hairs, we crossed the line when there was so much at stake. It's been a titanic game, and we've won it. It's the stuff dreams are made of.Our boys were a little fading in overtime despite having the additional man, but they fought hard.

“It was great to watch both teams give it their all, but this is huge for the football team.

Barnsley came the closest, but both Nicky Cadden and Adam Phillips missed good chances.

Then, after a lunge on Lee Gregory in the 49th minute that resulted in Phillips' red card, Barnsley's cause was greatly hampered, but they still more than held their own as the scores remained goalless after 90 minutes.

However, with the final play of the game, their resistance and their hearts were finally broken, allowing manager Michael Duff to look back with pride on what had been an exhausting 120 minutes for his men.

Football is a cruel game, and right now, frustration is the dominant emotion I'm experiencing, according to Duff.I'm devastated for each and every one of my players because they gave everything they had and did everything they could.
