Apostle Michael Ntumy, a former leader of the Church of Pentecost, has responded to charges that he defied God's prophecy and is now in a wheelchair.
Apostle Ntumy disputes the assertion and asserts that a spinal injury is the reason he is confined to a wheelchair.
It happened after an incident he had in 1992 while visiting the Ivory Coast.
He added that as a result of the accident, both he and his wife sustained spine injuries, along with shattered collarbones for his wife.
it, I'll just add that a lot of the people that say these things do it ignorantly. 1992 saw the onset of my issue in Ivory Coast. While travelling, we got in an automobile accident.
"Unbeknownst to me, my wife's collar bone fractured into three pieces, affecting my spine. For nine years prior to my appointment as chairman, I bore this agony. I was unable to stand for longer than three minutes as a result of the workload and issue growth.
"The surgeon looked at my spine when I arrived for the procedure and told me, "Dr. Ntumy, you have delayed much too long. You'll lose the use of your hands and feet when I conduct this procedure. But you will bounce back. I accepted what the doctor said after hearing it all.
Apostle Ntumy claimed in a social media video that the church was quick to judgement rather than praying with the two of him and his family when times were hard.
"Ghanaians are aware that Apostle Ntumy is a godly guy...What I heard were the stories, delivered from various perspectives. However, the overall impression was that I had been struck down and smashed by God. God had designated a church chairman after sending a prophetic word, but I, Apostle Ntumy, refused to offer the chairmanship to the person whose name was included in the prophecy.
In addition, he said, "God crashed him because there was a prophesy that Apostle Ntumy didn't pass over the chairperson to the one identified in the prophecy. However, not many people are aware of the Church of Pentecost's election process. The executive council will take action if a prophesy contains someone's name.
The prophet J.E. Ameyaw and other members of the Executives Council attended the meeting. It was approved by the council. Meeting the Electoral College, which consists of all district executives, etc., is the next step. The college also has a discussion before we vote there. Simple majority is all that is required. So we didn't reject the name of the prophet... 53 people voted yes, while 55 people said "no," and 3 people did not cast a ballot. He said, "So there were just two straightforward votes separating Prof. Ameyaw from passing.
So, dear Pentecostal Church members, Apostle Ntumy did not object to presenting Prophet Ameyaw's name... Apostle Onyinah, who proceeded but stopped at the third stage, had to be reintroduced, and was chosen to serve as chairman," he stated.
From 1998 until 2008, Apostle Ntumy served as the fourth Chairman of the Church of Pentecost (COP).
