There is a brand-new footballing frontier available.

Over the previous 12 months, Saudi Arabia has made significant progress in boosting the popularity of the sport. At the end of 2022, they pulled off a tremendous coup when it was revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo would be joining the Saudi Pro League's Al Nassr for the remainder of the 2022–2023 season and beyond.

This summer, the league intends to bring in a ton of prominent stars as their rise to fame continues. The nation's ultimate ambition is to host the 2030 World Cup, and Lionel Messi, Ronaldo's fiercest current adversary, might visit, which will undoubtedly help them.

Few anticipated that Ronaldo, 38, would struggle in the Middle East after losing favor at Manchester United, even though he is now gazing back on his peak with trembling lips. Al Nassr was leading the Saudi Pro League when his signing was announced, but Ronaldo will finish the campaign without a trophy as his team was edged out in the race for first place.

The Saudi Pro League's 2022–23 season ends on May 31, but the champion has already been selected.

Al Nassr, managed by Ronaldo, will place second to Nuno Espirito Santo's Al-Ittihad. Prior to the current season, the club hired the former Wolves and Tottenham manager, who led them to their first Saudi championship since 2008/09.

Prior to 2022/23, Al Hilal had won five of the previous six championships, with Al Nassr taking the crown most recently in the 2018/19 campaign.

After defeating Al Feiha 3-0 on Saturday, Nuno's Al Ittihad were named champions. They currently hold a four-point lead over Al Nassr going into the last day of the season. Their narrow victory in March over Ronaldo's team was key to their eventual title success.

The veteran superstar's first season in the Middle East has been a mixed bag.
