Mauricio Pochettino has officially been named as Chelsea's new first-team head coach, according to the club.

The former manager of Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur has agreed to a two-year deal with the club, with Chelsea holding the option for an additional year.

After announcing the appointment, club owners Todd Boehly, Behdad Eghbali, José E. Feliciano, Mark Walter, and Hansjörg Wyss made the following comments on the club's official website:

"The Board is pleased with the meticulous and careful procedure the sporting team carried out. The news that Mauricio will be joining Chelsea fills us with joy. Mauricio is an exceptional coach with a proven track record. All of us are eager to welcome him on board.

Since negotiations with the former manager of Bayern Munich broke down in late April, Pochettino has been widely anticipated to take over at Stamford Bridge. According to 90min, Poch signed his contract on Sunday at Stamford Bridge before the Blues' 1-1 draw with Newcastle United.

After a catastrophic 2022–23 season, the Argentine manager takes over a club in trouble. Chelsea spent almost £500 million on new players, yet despite this, they only managed to finish 12th in the Premier League and had two regular managers (Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter) and one caretaker manager (Frank Lampard) throughout the season.

Poch's first job at Stamford Bridge will be to restore order and sign Mason Mount to a binding contract. This summer, there have been numerous rumors about the midfielder moving. According to a recent rumor from 90min, the player's 'big fan' Pochettino is the reason that contract negotiations have accelerated recently.

Following the conclusion of their miserable 2022–23 season, Chelsea have officially announced the appointment of former Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Under interim manager Frank Lampard, the Blues struggled to a win in a season of record lows under new ownership. However, Pochettino's hiring instills new hope in a team that has failed on every level over the past 12 months.
