Brenden Aaronson, a midfielder for the United States, has been named by stats experts Sofascore as the worst player in the 2022–23 Premier League season.

The 22-year-old was a member of the Leeds team that was demoted to division 2 of English soccer on Sunday. He joined the Premier League team in May of last year after moving from RB Salzburg in a $31 million deal.

Aaronson had a poor average rating among players who played in more than 40% of games in the top division, as he managed just one goal and three assists in 41 matches during his first campaign.

Following a thrilling final day at the weekend, Sofascore unveiled the worst team of the season, with the USMNT star receiving the lowest rating of all with a score of 6.51.

Three of his Leeds teammates joined him as the group that started the season with Jesse

Marsch, the captain, came in 19th place, five points outside of safety.

The unwelcome XI also included defenders Junior Firpo and Robin Koch, as well as the striker Patrick Bamford.

It's improbable that Aaronson will start for Leeds in the Football League Championship the following year.

It was made public that the former Philadelphia Union midfielder has a relegation release provision in his contract just 24 hours after Leeds was demoted.

When he reconnected with fellow countryman Jesse Marsch at Elland Road, according to Mail Sport, Aaronson's representation reportedly placed the condition in his contract should the squad fall out of the first tier.

Sam Allardyce was unable to prevent Leeds from the dreaded relegation after Marsch was fired and his replacement Javi Gracia was also fired following Leeds' 4-1 loss to Tottenham.

Before the start of the next campaign, there should be a lot of player mobility.

Weston McKennie, a player from Aaronson's country, has already left when his loan from Juventus came to an end and Leeds declined to exercise their $37 million buyout option.

Following the Whites' relegation, McKennie received numerous "you fat b*****d" comments, and Tyler Adams of the USA appears to be on the move as well.

Prior to the Star and Stripes' elimination against Holland in the round of 16 at the 2022 World Cup, Aaronson had 30 international appearances under his belt.

This summer, he will play for the USA in the CONCACAF Nations League and Gold Cup competitions. B. J. Callaghan, who was appointed temporary head coach on Tuesday, will be in charge of the USMNT.

Stats experts Sofascore have revealed the Premier League's worst team of the year, which includes four Leeds players, two Nottingham Forest midfielders, and a failed Tottenham player.
Goalkeeper: Southampton's Gavin Bazunu, 6.58

Bazunu, by a significant measure the Premier League's youngest goalkeeper, has struggled mightily in Southampton's underwhelming campaign. 21st in the league in terms of the quantity of clean

The 21-year-old has only prevented his team from conceding four times while maintaining clean sheets. Only Keylor Navas has fewer among the regular starts.

As Southampton made every effort to stay in the Premier League, the goalkeeper was changed for Alex McCarthy in the Saints' final three games. A fresh start in the Championship under new boss Russell Martin could help the former Manchester City keeper rediscover his form. However, Bazunu's quick ascension and relative inexperience will have played a big factor in a difficult Premier League debut season.

Defender: Bournemouth's Adam Smith, 6.53
The longest-tenured member of Bournemouth's squad has been a mainstay in Gary O'Neil's squad during the Cherries' up-and-down 2022–23 campaign, but his presence has occasionally made the Cherries' right flank susceptible. He frequently struggled to prevail in crucial matches, which exposed his fellow defenders.

Away from the league, Smith's careless header against Newcastle in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup eliminated his team with a 1-0 loss. However, Smith is a pack leader and continues to be crucial to the team.

Defending player: Leeds' Robin Koch, 6.63

Koch is the first of the three Leeds players chosen for the Worst XI, but no players from rival relegated team Leicester are present. The German international is probably going to take the blame for the Yorkshire club's deteriorating defensive record, which was at its worst in April when the team set a new Premier League record for the most goals allowed in a calendar month with 23.

The 26-year-old put up a particularly poor performance during the team's 6-0 thrashing by Liverpool, and Koch was at best anonymous.

Defender: Tottenham's Clement Lenglet, 6.65

Lenglet was acquired from Barcelona on a season-long loan, but at the time, it wasn't enough to quench Tottenham fans' desire for Antonio Conte to completely overhaul the team. Lenglet hasn't made a streak of errors while playing center defense, but his inability to stand out when the going has been tough for Spurs this season - as it has frequently been - hasn't got Daniel Levy reaching for his wallet to make the signing permanent.

When the teams met at the Etihad Stadium in January, the 27-year-old unintentionally contributed to the loss of Tottenham's 2-0 lead over Manchester City. He was also unable to prevent Spurs from losing to Aston Villa, Bournemouth, and Brentford in some of the team's most dismal performances this season.

Defender: Leeds' Junior Firpo, 6.55

The Leeds defender from the Dominican Republic has had a hit-and-miss season, but he almost surely starts in our most heinous lineup following a disastrous turn in his team's dramatic 2-2 draw with Newcastle. Firpo's careless play saw him give up a penalty and engage in a number of dangerous challenges before getting dismissed for ramming Anthony Gordon just inches outside the penalty area.

Firpo, who is now in his second season with the club, has received criticism frequently for being a hothead because of the five yellow cards and one red card he received against Eddie Howe's team.

Midfielder: Nottingham Forest's Orel Mangala, 6.67

Mangala was acquired from Stuttgart as part of Forest's massive player signing spree after moving up from the Championship last summer. However, a muscular injury held him out until October. His struggles to regain his form following the injury and the quick learning curve of the Premier League prevented him from making many headlines. His first season in the top division was ended abruptly when he received two yellow cards against Tottenham.

Mangala has, however, steadily found his form since the winter break, turning in an outstanding performance against Southampton and enabling Cooper's team avoid relegation with a few games remaining.

Remo Freuler (Nottingham Forest) in the middle, 6.67

Like Mangala, Freuler's presence in our starting XI is more a reflection of Forest's erratic start to life in the Premier League than of any particular player's lack of ability, but some of the Switzerland international's performances raise a bigger red flag.

Freuler lost track of Mohamed Salah at Anfield as he was on his way to score Liverpool's third goal during his team's 3-2 victory over Cooper's players, but he has since been more collected in the middle of the field with Ryan Yates, who was absent for a significant portion of the second half of the season.

the campaign as a result of numerous injuries.

Bobby Decordova-Reid (Fulham) is an attacking midfielder.

The Fulham attacker has had a fantastic season playing for Marco Silva's quick, dangerous team, and his performances have helped the Cottagers to a decent 10th-place finish in the Premier League, just one point shy of their best-ever total. However, there haven't been nearly enough of them.

Silva has made the most of his adaptability this season, but Decordova-Reid was unable to step up when Aleksandar Mitrovic was out due to injury, therefore ending their dreams of a future in Europe. In 36 league games, the 30-year-old made four goals and just one assist, falling short of the pivotal sharpness that Fulham occasionally sorely needed.
