Furious Tottenham fans launch campaign to stop Ange Postecoglou becoming Spurs' next coach: 'We can't have this guy managing us'

Angry Tottenham fans have launched an aggressive Twitter campaign amid ongoing speculation Ange Postecoglou will be the club's next manager in the Premier League.

Dubbed '#NOTOPOSTECOGLOU', a section of fed up supporters in North London - led by one in particular - clearly don't rate 'Aussie Ange'.

They were quick to voice their thoughts on social media, posting Spurs - who finished eighth this season - 'deserve better' and 'we can't have this guy managing us.'

One irate Tottenham fan, who goes by the name owenthfc_ also was desperate to point out Postegoclou doesn't have a UEFA pro licence coaching badge.

Another tweeted in response 'Neil Lennon won a treble when in charge of Celtic', but didn't see other Spurs supporters keen to see him in charge of Harry Kane and company.

One supporter used social media to start a trending hashtag in the hope 'Aussie Ange' isn't the club's next manager

It comes after Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was said to be impressed with Postecoglou - and is happy to move forward with managerial discussions, the Evening Standard reported.

Levy's incoming chief football officer Scott Munn, who is Australian and knows Postecoglou well - is also an advocate of the Celtic boss.

The 57-year-old forged an impressive career throughout his time in Australia and Japan - where he won major silverware with Brisbane Roar and Yokohama F. Marinos - before eventually arriving at Celtic Park in June of 2021.

Since then, despite his detractors, he has clinched back-to-back Scottish Premiership titles. Their most recent title win was secured by a 5-0 win over Aberdeen.

The Hoops can secure another trophy this weekend if they beat underdogs Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish FA Cup Final.

But despite his success in Scotland, the Aussie coach was not Tottenham's first choice.

Instead, Spurs held talks with Vincent Kompany, Xabi Alonso and Arne Slot, but all three managers turned down a move in favour of staying at their respective clubs.

Former striker Peter Crouch claimed Spurs' struggles to sign a new manager have been an 'embarrassment'

It follows a disappointing season for the club, who finished eighth in the Premier League (pictured, star striker Harry Kane)

Former Tottenham striker Peter Crouch recently critiqued the club's negotiation process and suggested their search for a manager had become an 'embarrassment'.

'It's a really difficult one,' he said. 'They've had so many people in the running and then ruling themselves out, its become a little bit of an embarrassment to Tottenham.

'When you think of how big the club is and the training facilities, the ground, the players and no one seems to want it.

'There are some good candidates left, Ange Postecogolu looks to be the one at the moment but I would have thought it would be [Brighton's] Roberto De Zerbi myself.'

Italian Antonio Conte departed Spurs in March, before his assistant-turned-interim-boss Cristian Stellini was bounced out the exit door soon afterwards.
