According to the PA news agency, UEFA is awaiting the match officials' reports before determining whether to sanction Jose Mourinho for his outburst at referee Anthony Taylor following Roma's defeat in the Europa League final.

In his post-match press conference following his team's Wednesday night loss to Sevilla on penalties in Budapest, Roma manager Mourinho criticized Taylor.

The former manager of Chelsea and Manchester United is also heard yelling "disgrace" while gesturing toward Taylor and officials in video footage that eventually went viral on social media.

After extra time, the score remained tied at 1-1. Sevilla then won the penalty shootout 4-1 to win the game and secure their eighth Europa League victory.

In a poor final, tempers flared both on and off the field. Thirteen players were issued yellow cards, including seven Roma players, while fourth official Michael Oliver struggled to maintain control of both dugouts.

There were numerous delays during the game, adding a total of 25 minutes to the 120 minutes of playtime.

In his sixth major European final, Mourinho suffered his first defeat, as Sevilla increased their tournament winning streak after victories in 2006, 2007, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2020.

Paulo Dybala's goal for Mourinho's Serie A team gave them the lead, but Gianluca Mancini's own goal forced extra time and penalties, which Mancini and Roger Ibanez both missed to give Sevilla their sixth Europa League title.

After winning the Europa Conference League previous season, it prevented Mourinho and Roma from winning a second consecutive European trophy.

Roma's coaching staff and substitutes bench came under fire for their excessive game-playing throughout the championship. The Portuguese manager received a caution for starting a brawl on the sidelines.

Mourinho attacked referee Anthony Taylor after the game while he was waiting in the Puskas Arena parking lot. Back in front of the media, he also criticized former Tottenham player Erik Lamela, claiming the Argentine should have been dismissed for receiving a second yellow card.
