Following the acceptance of a second bid for the Scotland striker by Sky Bet Championship club Millwall, Hibernian is preparing for Kevin Nisbet's exit.
The 26-year-old turned down the offer from the London side in January since he had just recently returned from a nine-month absence due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
However, Nisbet stated last week that there was a fair chance he would be moving on this summer. Nisbet was restored to the Scotland squad this week after scoring 12 goals in the just concluded season after returning from injury in December.
With one year remaining on his contract, the forward who previously played for Partick Thistle, Raith Rovers, and Dunfermline has been handed another shot.
The news that Chris Cadden ruptured his Achilles tendon and would be sidelined for "a significant period of time" on Thursday means that Hibs will undoubtedly be without another important player when the new season gets underway.
The club instantly feared the worst when the right-back was carried off in the second half of last Saturday's easy Premiership draw away to Hearts.
On Thursday, Hibs disclosed that Cadden had already undergone surgery on his Achilles, beginning a recuperation process that is anticipated to last well into the upcoming season.
The Edinburgh club also disclosed that Jake Doyle-Hayes, who was taken off the field 16 minutes before Cadden in the match at Tynecastle last weekend, has injured his shoulder girdle.
The Irish midfielder will miss the start of preseason, but the Hibees are "hopeful" that he will be able to play when the regular season gets underway.
Lee Johnson, the team's manager, expressed his wishes for Cadds and Jake to recover quickly on the Hibs website.
Everyone feels terrible for Cadds, and I know he will face hardships, but as staff and players, we need to come together to support him as much as we can.Our club has a top-notch medical department that will support him during his recovery and make sure he returns fitter and stronger. This kind of injury was the best-case situation for Jake.
