A journalist has made a daring statement suggesting that Lionel Messi could be heading to Saudi Arabia in the near future.

According to journalist Gerard Romero, Lionel Messi's potential move to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal seems to have hit a roadblock. Romero, speaking on his Twitch channel, revealed that talks have gone cold, casting doubt on the Argentine's move to the Middle East.

Confirming Messi's departure from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), manager Christophe Galtier stated that the player will be leaving the Ligue 1 giants this summer. Messi has attracted interest from several clubs, including Al Hilal, Barcelona, and Inter Miami, all of whom have offers ready for him.

Barcelona, initially leading the race for Messi's signature, now face a ten-day deadline set by the player himself. Messi is keen to have his future resolved quickly. However, the Catalan club must obtain approval from La Liga to finalize the deal this summer.

Al Hilal, who were confident about their chances of securing the services of the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner, made an astonishing €500 million offer to entice Messi to join them, according to Marca.

Barcelona manager Xavi has expressed his desire to convince Messi to return to the club. He believes Messi would be a perfect fit for their system and tactical plans. Ultimately, however, Xavi acknowledges that the decision lies with the player himself.

Xavi stated in an interview with Mundo Deportivo that he has been in communication with Messi, emphasizing the importance of giving the legendary player a fitting farewell. He added that while everyone at Barcelona loves Messi, his return depends on what the player wants to do.

Meanwhile, Inter Miami is patiently waiting for Messi to make his decision. The Major League Soccer (MLS) club has already received approval from the league to sign the forward, making them a viable option for the Argentine star.

As the saga surrounding Messi's future continues, the clock is ticking for Barcelona to secure his return. While Al Hilal's pursuit seems to have cooled off, the allure of a reunion with his former club and the enticing prospect of joining Inter Miami present interesting alternatives for the 34-year-old. Ultimately, Messi holds the key to his own destiny as he contemplates his next career move.
