Nicky Devlin, the former captain of Livingston, has signed a two-year contract with Aberdeen, and Barry Robson is excited to have "a proven leader" join his team.
The 29-year-old's move to Pittodrie was already widely known when a picture of him and his agency signing his pre-contract with the Dons surfaced a fortnight ago.
Even last week, before his farewell appearance for Livingston against Motherwell, Devlin briefly discussed his upcoming move to Aberdeen during a pre-match media conference.
On Thursday, the agreement was finally able to be publicly announced by the Dons.
Nicky is a proven leader and exactly the kind of person I want on this team, according to boss Robson, who spoke to the Reds' official website.
He is a seasoned professional who has served as captain at two different clubs, is familiar with the league, and is prepared for the challenges we will encounter in the upcoming season.
Along with these teams, Devlin has also represented Dumbarton, Stenhousemuir, Ayr United, where he served as captain, and Walsall.
The 29-year-old is anticipating playing in Europe for the first time since, should Celtic defeat Inverness in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday, the Dons will have group-stage participation until Christmas.
"It's great to be an Aberdeen player, and I am really looking forward to the season ahead," he stated.
"When we first started talking about relocating, Aberdeen really struck me.
My choice was influenced by the manager's vision for the club's future and the thoughtfulness of every member of the staff. Without a doubt, Aberdeen was the finest fit for me.The chance to play in Europe was undoubtedly an additional draw.
I've worked hard in my career to get where I am, so I want to give it everything I've got at Aberdeen and seize this amazing opportunity.Pittodrie was the 29-year-old's new team, which was widely known by people regardless
