Pep Guardiola's reaction to receiving the runner-up medal began to spread after Jose Mourinho's gesture following Roma's Europa League final loss to Sevilla
For the first time in his career, Mourinho lost a European final to the Andalusian side, who won the Europa League for the seventh time in 17 years.
Sevilla won on fire 4-1 on penalties after drawing 1-1 in 120 minutes, with Argentina defender Gonzalo Montiel repeating his feat from the World Cup final by switching penalty kick exchange.

Mourinho is looking to become the most successful manager in UEFA competitions as well as the first to win three Europa League titles with three different teams.
But for the first time he tasted failure and did not accept it well. After accepting his medal for second place, Mourinho immediately took it off and threw it at a young fan in the stands before stepping out into the tunnel. He would then wait for officials in the parking lot and insult them with swear words. Mourinho then explained why he considers the medal worthless:
"That's what I did, I didn't want the silver medal. I didn't keep the silver medal, so I gave them away."

He has done the same thing before, even in winning situations, and presented a UEFA Super Cup medal to a United fan in 2017.
Guardiola is also used to winning and has lost only two finals in his career - including a 0-1 loss in the Champions League final to Chelsea at Porto against Manchester City.

But while it was a huge disappointment, the Catalan had a very different reaction to Mourinho and instead embraced his doctor after he was strangled by Aleksander Ceferin.
