Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has issued a warning to Manchester City striker Erling Haaland ahead of Saturday's FA Cup final.

Both clubs heading to the Manchester derby aim to claim their second title of the season after United lifted the Carabao Cup and City won the Premier League.

Haaland, who joined City in the summer from Borussia Dortmund, has played a key role in their success this season, scoring 52 goals in 51 games.

Pep Guardiola's side are likely to win the treble this season after reaching the Champions League final.

The Reds are determined to stop them from doing so, with United currently the only English side to ever win the treble in 1999. If United win at Wembley this weekend, they must cancel Haaland - and Varane has warned the Norwegian that Erik ten Hag's side will look to cut off midfielder Kevin De Bruyne's supply to him.

"Haaland is a very good player, we all know that, but the danger of Man City is everywhere," said Varane.

“They can score from set pieces, from possession and from forward play. We know we have to stop them as a team and collectively as a group.

“As a defender, the connection, especially with De Bruyne – those passes are complicated to defend, so we will try to cut that connection. “We will try to stop them sooner rather than last, because sometimes it is too late. We know we have to be strong as a team.

UEFA investigation reveals Barcelona tried to influence Caso Negreira matches - report

UEFA is said to have found indications that Barcelona attempted to influence football matches while paying former vice-chairman of the refereeing committee Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira between 2001 and 2018.

The payments totaled around 7 million euros, with Barcelona claiming they were for spying reports rather than influence. The anti-corruption department in Spain is investigating the matter, but UEFA is also conducting its own investigation.

According to ABC (via Marca), the two attorneys in charge of this investigation, Mirjam Koller and Jean-Samuel Leuba, have found clues that they attempted to do so. They will present their evidence to UEFA's Ethics Committee, which will then decide on penalties - this will most likely involve a ban from European competition. However, MD contradicts this report and says that the investigation has yet to reach any conclusion, with 11 days left before they submit their report.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has denied any wrongdoing and said they would fight for vindication. If UEFA imposes the sanctions, it is likely that Barcelona will appeal the decision, as the Blaugrana had previously asked the European body to wait for the Spanish court system to resolve the matter. Laporta met UEFA President Aleksanfer Ceferin last month, and rumors from the Barcelona-based media are positive about the encounter.
