Man Utd target Rasmus Hojlund signs up with same agent as Erik ten Hag as key figure spotted at Old Trafford

Manchester United could have the edge in the race to sign Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.

United are looking to strengthen their squad, with next season promising a return to the Champions League after finishing third in the Premier League.

Erik ten Hag has made it a priority to sign the centre-back this summer, ahead of United's disappointing return in the current season.

In all competitions, Anthony Martial has only scored nine goals in an injury campaign while lover Wout Weghorst has only scored two, none in the Premier League.

And according to Athletic, United's director of football John Murtough has spoken to Atalanta several times about the possibility of signing Hojlund. While the 20-year-old has a number of followers across Europe, United could have the upper hand in their pursuit of the striker.

As Athletic highlighted, Hojlund signed up with the company SEG in anticipation of a move at some point in his short and medium-term future.

Indeed, Ten Hag is also represented by SEG, while company co-founder Kees Voss is a regular at Old Trafford. Voss even watched United's win over Fulham on Sunday from the director's box.

Hojlund has scored eight goals and provided two assists in 31 Serie A 2022-23 games since arriving from Sturm Graz last summer. The Denmark international also scored five goals in just two games for his country in Euro 2024 qualifying in March, including a hat-trick in a 3-1 win over Finland.

Athletics claim United have also held talks with Eintracht Frankfurt over Randal Kolo Muani, with the German club willing to sell the 24-year-old for a fair price.

Kolo Muani has signed a five-year contract with Frankfurt in 2022 after spending time in France with Nantes and Boulogne.

Frankfurt are reportedly asking for up to 80 million euros (£68.7 million) for the France international, which would increase United's budget. Hojlund, however, will be cheaper.
