Danny Devine acknowledges that he has let himself daydream about the possibility of winning the Scottish Cup twice with Inverness.
Only two players on the current roster, including the 30-year-old defender, were present when Caley Thistle defeated Falkirk in the 2015 final, giving them their most memorable day ever.
The other player on John Hughes' winning squad eight years ago was Aaron Doran, and the two are now desperate to share in the same glory this weekend by supporting the Championship team upset treble-chasing Celtic in Saturday's matchup at Hampden.
"What we accomplished in 2015 was enormous, especially for the city of Inverness given its location in the Highlands and all that goes along with it,"
I had pleasant memories of that day. There is no reason why this club can't advance and have more days like tomorrow, which will be historic for the team.Only two of us from that cup-winning team are still around. It was clearly the biggest moment of my career, and to go and achieve it again would be absolutely huge, especially with the opponent we face. Hopefully, the experience of having done it before will benefit us individually and the team. Although it will be exceedingly difficult, you never know with a little luck.
When asked if he had given himself time to reflect on his life as a two-time Scottish Cup champion
You constantly try to imagine what it would be like if we could get there and pull off a major upset, but you immediately bring yourself back to reality by realizing how big the task at hand actually is.
"But of course I've given it some thought. That will be entirely out of my mind when it's game time, and all of my attention will be on the game and performing my duties.
Devine feels that his and Doran's previous cup victories will assist Billy Dodds' youthful team handle the situation this time.
Nothing compares to experience, he remarked. "I believe that having experience playing in these important games in the past absolutely helps, especially in the lead-up to it and in handling the jitters and everything like that.
