Following Roma's loss to Sevilla in the Europa League final on Wednesday in Budapest, Jose Mourinho has been reprimanded by UEFA for criticizing referee Anthony Taylor.

The Premier League has denounced later video footage showing Taylor being harassed by incensed fans at the airport, describing itself as "shocked and appalled" by the treatment the official received.

After a turbulent final in which 13 players received yellow cards, both clubs are facing a variety of charges, including Mourinho's for using abusive or disrespectful language toward a referee.

Taylor was criticized by Mourinho in his post-game news conference, and in video that later circulated on social media, the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager can be heard yelling "disgrace" and gesturing toward Taylor and officials in the stadium parking lot.

Twitter videos of the incident at the airport show Taylor and his entourage navigating a crowd of Roma supporters when a chair and beverages are hurled in their direction.

"We are shocked and appalled by the unacceptable abuse directed at Anthony Taylor and his family as they traveled back from the UEFA Europa League Final," a Premier League representative said.Nobody should be subjected to the unacceptable behavior they experienced yesterday.

We totally support Anthony and his family as one of our most skilled and accomplished match officials.

In a statement released on Thursday night, The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) stated: "PGMOL is aware of footage circulating on social media depicting Anthony Taylor and his family being harassed and assaulted at Budapest Airport. We are horrified by the vile hatred that has been hurled at Anthony and his family as he travels home from officiating the UEFA Europa League final.

"We will continue to give Anthony and his family all of our support."

After extra time, the score remained tied at 1-1. Sevilla then won the penalty shootout 4-1 to win the game and secure their eighth Europa League victory.
