Jose Mourinho, the manager of Roma, has been reprimanded by UEFA for his direct criticism of referee Anthony Taylor following the Europa League final.

Mourinho criticized Taylor's game-officiating after his Roma team lost the championship match against Sevilla on penalties. After the game, Mourinho said the referee "seemed Spanish," and he later yelled at Taylor in the parking lot, calling his performance a "f**king disgrace."

Taylor was verbally attacked by Roma fans at the airport as he was traveling back to his home after the game. The fans yelled at Taylor as he tried to guide his family away from the mob. The spectators hurled drinks at the referee, and one fan even launched a table his way.

UEFA has now charged Mourinho for using 'insulting or abusive' words toward Taylor, in what is expected to be the first of several disciplinary hearings as a result of the event.

Following the release of the airport video on social media, the official body for referees, PGMOL, issued the following statement in Taylor's defense: "[We] are aware of footage circulating on social media depicting Anthony Taylor and his family being harassed and assaulted at Budapest Airport.

We are horrified by the vile hatred that has been hurled at Anthony and his family as he travels home after officiating the Uefa Europa League final. We will continue to provide Anthony and his family all of our support.

Five further allegations have been brought against Roma, four of which are related to fan conduct during the match. After receiving seven yellow cards, the Serie A team was further charged with 'improper behaviour'.

Four accusations have been made against the Spaniards in Sevilla. Along with three allegations from fans, Sevilla has also received criticism from UEFA after accruing six yellow cards of their own.

After the Europa League final, Jose Mourinho was cited for Anthony Taylor's outburst.
