As a result of his unsuccessful spell at the City Ground, Lingard only made 20 appearances across all competitions, scoring two goals in the Carabao Cup.

Jesse Lingard, a former member of the England national team, will depart Nottingham Forest when his contract expires.

Lingard raised questions when he signed a lucrative one-year contract with Forest instead of West Ham last season after their promotion to the Premier League.

Although he only made 20 appearances in all competitions during his stay at the City Ground, he did manage to score twice in the Carabao Cup.

He only made four appearances in 2023, but he was a dependable presence on the sidelines as Forest defied the odds to remain in the Premier League.

The 30-year-old will now search for a third club in three years after being linked to several lucrative foreign leagues, according to sources.

Along players Jack Colback, Cafu, Lyle Taylor, and Jordan Smith, Andre Ayew, who signed a short-term contract in January, will also leave the City Ground this summer.

Serge Aurier, the right-back who was instrumental in helping Forest survive, has exercised the one-year option in his contract and will remain for the 2023–24 season.

The contracts of loanees Dean Henderson, Keylor Navas, and Renan Lodi are up, although it's believed that Forest is interested in looking into permanent transfers for Brazilian Lodi and Manchester United goalkeeper Henderson.

The recruitment campaign Forest undertook last summer, in which they added 22 players by the conclusion of the transfer window and 30 by the end of January, is not anticipated to be repeated.

However, it is still likely to be busy as manager Steve Cooper pursues fewer but higher-caliber arrivals and will be eager to let go of a few players as he reduces a bulky roster.

Right-back Serge Aurier, who was a key performer in Forest’s survival mission, has triggered the one-year option in his contract so will stay for the 2023/24 campaign.
