Ahead of Manchester United's FA Cup final against Manchester City, rumors of Mason Mount's move to Old Trafford are fueling. The Chelsea star was previously tipped to leave Stamford Bridge for Liverpool, with Arsenal also linked. But now he seems increasingly to be the club's latest surprise signing in recent years...
Manchester United are said to have agreed personal terms with Mount, who looked emotional after Chelsea's final Premier League game of the season against Newcastle last weekend.
And all they need to do now is agree a fee with their rivals. Liverpool were previously considered favorites to sign Mount, while Chelsea are doomed to lose their academy graduates.
But, somewhat surprisingly, United now appear to have stolen a march.
Mount will become the club's latest shock signing, in keeping with what has become a tradition over the past few years.
United are constantly linked with Frenkie de Jong, with Erik ten Hag leading his side in pursuit of a player he once coached at Ajax. Adrien Rabiot was then targeted, only for the midfielder to stay at Juventus despite being offered a fee.
But, all of a sudden, Casemiro then came in instead of United doing their Brazil international homework backstage.
It was a development few expected, as the Samba star became a key player for Real Madrid during his time at the Bernabeu.

In 2021, it is an open secret that United will go to great lengths to secure the signings of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.
However, at the end of the transfer window, the most unexpected signing came. Cristiano Ronaldo is tipped to leave Juventus for Manchester City, who are poised to make the Portugal international their No 1 target.
However, United, knowing they couldn't afford to see the veteran all over town, stepped in to bring the striker home.
A year earlier, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had hoped to sign Sancho.

However, at the end of the transfer window, when it became clear that an agreement could not be reached, Edinson Cavani landed in Manchester instead. United could have signed the Uruguay international sooner, with the forward set to spend several months on a free agent after leaving Paris Saint-Germain.
So it was all the more shocking when Cavani signed on the dotted line.
In 2019, Sancho once again became Solskjaer's priority transfer target.

But the Reds stunned fans by signing Daniel James from Swansea, the Wales international who was previously expected to move to Leeds.
Fast-forward to now and it looks like history is about to repeat itself. Mount could follow on Sunday like the rest of the world to see what is believed to be the biggest derby in history.
And whether he is set to join a United side with two trophies in the cupboard instead of just one, remains to be seen.
