Joe Ghartey, a candidate for the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) nomination for the presidency, has formally picked up his nomination papers to run in the forthcoming primary elections.

Accompanied by a number of constituency executives and chairpersons, Mr. Ghartey declared his intention to give the party a new focus and open up chances for everyone, especially the young in Ghana.

His main goals are to fight poverty, promote harmony within the NPP, and bring together Ghanaians from all socioeconomic backgrounds. He also stressed the need for Ghanaians to unite to "fight poverty" rather than engage in rivalry.

On June 1, 2023, a few NPP constituency executives and chairpersons picked up Mr. Ghartey's nomination paperwork. He is a skilled politician and former Attorney General and Minister of Justice.

Ernest Oti Akenteng, the constituency chairman of New Juaben North, was in charge of the group of NPP officials from each of Ghana's 16 regions.

Mr. Ghartey sees an NPP that promotes equitable opportunity for all Ghanaians after launching the "Justice for All" programme under the previous administration of John Agyekum Kufuor.

If Mr. Ghartey wins the primaries and goes on to be elected president in 2024, he wants to revive the NPP and provide young people and party executives with the opportunity to serve Ghana. He was formerly the minister of railway development and the second deputy speaker of parliament.

In a speech to NPP leaders at the Osu Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Hon. Ghartey reaffirmed his dedication to serving the party and the nation, stating that his aims are not motivated by personal gain.

He emphasised the value of NPP unity and asked lawmakers to prioritise the future of Ghana's children.

A key adviser to Mr. Ghartey named Adams Abdul Majid affirmed the steadfast support of NPP youth from all around the nation.

When elected president, Hon. Ghartey would lead Ghana towards prosperity, according to Mr. Majid, who praised him as a capable and visionary leader.

He emphasised the grassroots connections and transformative leadership skills of Hon. Ghartey.
