Man Utd could be STUCK with injury-prone Striker this summer

Manchester United's plans to sell Anthony Martial during the upcoming summer transfer window might be derailed due to his recent injury. Martial suffered a muscular tear in the final Premier League match of the season against Fulham, which ruled him out of the FA Cup Final against Manchester City. Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has now revealed that the injury could result in a lengthy recovery period for the French striker.

Speaking about Martial's injury, ten Hag stated that it will be a long-term setback, but the exact duration of his absence is yet to be determined. Further assessments will be carried out to determine the extent of the injury. This development comes as a blow to Manchester United's summer plans, as the club was reportedly looking to offload Martial in the transfer window. However, with the injury and uncertain recovery timeline, any potential transfer might have to be postponed until the next season.

Martial has experienced a season plagued by injuries, with six separate setbacks limiting his appearances for the club to just 29 matches, during which he scored nine goals. He has been unable to complete a full 90 minutes since January 2021 and has only managed to score a total of 17 goals over the past three seasons. With one year remaining on his contract and the club holding an option for an additional year, Manchester United is now faced with the dilemma of what to do with the 27-year-old forward.

The primary focus for Manchester United this summer is to strengthen their striking options, with Harry Kane being ten Hag's preferred target for the role. However, there are doubts regarding Tottenham's willingness to part ways with the English striker, leaving United to explore alternative options. Ten Hag has already conducted video calls with Atalanta's Rasmus Hoijlund to discuss a potential move, while interest remains in Napoli's Victor Osimhen and Randal Kolo Muani of Eintracht Frankfurt.

In summary, Manchester United's plans to sell Anthony Martial this summer may be affected by his recent injury, which could require a prolonged recovery period. With his history of injuries and inconsistent performances, the club's desire to offload him might be hindered. Instead, Manchester United will now need to explore other options to strengthen their strike force during the transfer window, with Harry Kane being the preferred target, although alternative players such as Rasmus Hoijlund, Victor Osimhen, and Randal Kolo Muani are also being considered.
