As the Jags near a return to the top division, Kyle Turner stated that Kris Doolan intended to secure Premiership football as soon as he took over as Partick Thistle manager.

Doolan took the reins from Ian McCall in February, initially on a caretaker basis, and the Maryhill team's recent run of success has brought them all the way to the play-off final.

The Jags defeated Ross County 2-0 in the first leg on Thursday, extending their winning streak to 11 games. The second leg will be played on Sunday in Dingwall.

Thistle became the only second-tier team to finish fourth and advance all the way to the play-off final.

Midfielder Turner is optimistic that Doolan's goal will soon come true after Malky Mackay's team spent the majority of the game in Glasgow with 10 men after 16-year-old defender Dylan Smith was dismissed in the first half for denying Aidan Fitzpatrick a clear-cut chance to score.

The 25-year-old remarked, "The coach has been fantastic. He has struggled the past few weeks, and it has been difficult for him.But his first comments upon arrival were, "Let's attempt to get to the Premiership.In the changing area, he keeps harping on the idea that we should check up the route and method of transportation.

He gave us the confidence that we could succeed in Scotland's top level, and things have gone well so far.We've adopted a siege mindset since the gaffer arrived and are continuing to play to see what happens.We have scored 18 goals and given up three in five playoff games, so the coach has instilled confidence in us. He wants us to be free to play our own game, and so far, that has succeeded.We were disappointed this season since we should have been competing in the championship games, but we faltered a few times, and that made us unhappy.We came in fourth place, and the playoffs required us to play six games.
