Jamie Carragher has come up with an interesting theory regarding Manchester United's pursuit of Mason Mount ahead of the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
Man United, which has won the Carabao Cup and secured Champions League spot for next season, face city rivals in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium.
And ahead of the game, Liverpool legend Carragher made a bold statement about the transfer rumors regarding Mount's move to Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old looks set to leave Chelsea, with Erik ten Hag reportedly keen to sign the midfielder this summer.
But Carragher questioned the update regarding United's pursuit of Mount hours before the FA Cup final against the Blues. On Twitter he wrote:
"Clubs often provide information about a potential signing after a failure to lift their supporters and change the narrative.
"Man United pushed for Mason Mount before the Cup final, are their supporters as scared and negative as they are today?!

Man United push for Mason Mount before the Cup final, are their supporters too scared and negative about today?
It is known that Mount will cost Man United £ 50-60 million as Chelsea look to reduce the load on players, after bringing in a lot in the past two transfer windows.
However, former Manchester United captain Roy Keane doesn't believe his former side want to sign the England international.
"I'm not so sure about Mount. He was a bit annoyed," he said on Sky Sports.
“I know he can come back and he has the qualities, I talked about him a few years ago but he was only absent a year or two ago, again an injury or two, the fact that he can't join a bad Chelsea team."
Keane went on to refer to West Ham United's Declan Rice, adding:
“They have been contacted by a lot of players, but the one that excites you the most is Kane.
“I think Rice would be a good signing. But in terms of excitement and scoring, you can do anything for Kane, but can you see Spurs selling to Man United? Very, very difficult."
Will Mount complete his move to Manchester United?
