Manager of Real Madrid Carlo Ancelotti has been questioned on the club's interest in Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur.

The biggest teams in Europe feel that Kane, who only has one year left on his contract, won't leave Spurs this summer, as 90min reported earlier this week.

However, clubs like Real Madrid are still interested in a trade and may step up their efforts to lure him away from his childhood team.

Karim Benzema changed his mind at the last minute and will stay in the Spanish capital for at least one more season. He had been anticipated to accept an offer to join Saudi Pro League champions Al Ittihad earlier this week.

Real Madrid's pursuit of Kane made front-page news in Spain on Saturday, although they may yet try to sign a new striker during the summer transfer season.

Ancelotti was questioned about Kane at a press conference held prior to their season-ending matchup against Athletic Club.

"I'm sure you're all interested in seeing what happens next season," he retorted. I won't discuss the team's future in this sentence. Kane is a star player, but we must respect Tottenham because he represents them.

"Real Madrid will have a competitive team again next season," I can assure you.

By their own standards, Real Madrid and Tottenham have both had poor seasons.

Los Blancos did succeed in winning the Copa del Rey for the first time since 2013/14, but they failed to successfully defend their Champions League and La Liga titles. Barcelona easily defeated them to win the Spanish championship, and Manchester City destroyed them in the semifinals of their defense of the European Cup.

Spurs, on the other hand, finished eighth in the Premier League, which was their lowest placing in 15 years, and went a whole season without winning a trophy.

With 30 Premier League goals, Kane enjoyed one of his best individual seasons, narrowly losing out on the Golden Boot to Erling Haaland's record-breaking haul of 36 goals.
