City is attempting to win the second leg of the triple crown.
The fans of Manchester City have been told by Pep Guardiola that their team will "give everything" to defeat rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final.
On Saturday, as the domestic season comes to a mouthwatering conclusion, the neighboring clubs square off for the first time in the competition's Wembley championship game.
For City, winning the second leg of the treble would put them one step closer to matching United's record of the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League trophies from 1999.
However, even looking at the game in isolation, City boss Guardiola is fully aware of how much it would mean to supporters to merely defeat United in a major final - after much suffering at their hands in the past.
Guardiola has advised spectators to savor the moment, keeping that in mind and directing his team with total concentration.
He said: "I will advise our fans to go there and enjoy a wonderful occasion, knowing the team will give it their all to defeat Man United, first behave appropriately.
"Who knows the repercussions and outcome? I am unaware of it. Erik ten Hag, the manager of United, is unaware of it.
Football is being played. Take advantage of the present and the upcoming week as you get ready for the (Champions League) final and dream of seeing the team. It's the ideal approach.
"You must realize that anything can happen, but we will stop at nothing to defeat United.
"I absolutely understand the feelings of City supporters, who for many years trailed United in popularity.
"We'll work to make the game as good as we can. So my advice would be to have fun, drink the recommended amount of beer before the game, and that would be it. Love it."
However, the fact that City is attempting the treble could also provide United more motivation as they seek not only to win the derby cup but also to maintain the distinction of their club's own achievement from 24 years ago.
Guardiola remarked, "I could understand that; it belongs to them. "That is typical. That is how sport is. It is entirely comprehensible.
It's a football game, though. Whoever is superior will prevail.
City has had a full week to prepare for the match after a hectic schedule in the final stages of the Premier League season.
