Mateo Kovacic, a midfielder who is drawing serious interest from Manchester City, will command a cost of about £35 million from Chelsea, according to 90min.
Late last month, the Premier League champions began negotiations with Kovacic, who has one year left on his contract. Chelsea are open to doing business as they attempt to fund their own midfield transfers.
Chelsea is keeping an eye on Manuel Ugarte of Sporting CP, and the Blues are still interested in Declan Rice of West Ham and Moises Caicedo of Brighton.
Chelsea is willing to sell Kovacic this summer, and insiders have told 90min that a price tag of roughly £35m has been placed on the Croatian international's head. Chelsea is well aware of their need for financial assistance.
Such a number is not anticipated to pose any issues for City, who are continuing to pursue Kovacic after making headway in their discussions with his agent.
Kovacic and parties have reportedly reached an agreement in principle on personal terms, and City is optimistic that a contract will be finalized in the coming weeks.
Pep Guardiola, though, is anxious to prevent any distractions in the run-up to City's crucial match against Serie A giants Inter on Saturday, June 10. As a result, no official announcement is anticipated until after the Champions League final.
Former Inter midfielder Kovacic signed a loan agreement to join Chelsea from Real Madrid in the summer of 2018. Since then, he has made 221 appearances for the Blues, contributing six goals and 15 assists across all competitions.
As Ilkay Gundogan continues to discuss a potential free transfer to Barcelona, the 29-year-old is now moving closer to a move to City, who are also preparing for a little midfield shake-up.
