Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur has spoken out for the first time over former manager Mauricio Pochettino's appointment at rivals Chelsea.
Beginning with the 2023–24 season, the Argentine will lead the Blues as their next head coach after signing a two-year deal with a third-year option at Stamford Bridge.
During his five-and-a-half-year tenure with London rivals Spurs, Pochettino gained international fame, most notably by guiding them to their first-ever Champions League final in 2019.
Pochettino is reportedly interested in returning to Tottenham, who have been searching for an Antonio Conte replacement since March, according to a 90min article from earlier this year.
Throughout the spring, Spurs supporters sang Pochettino's name during home matches, but the team did not publicly approach the 51-year-old about the position.
Kane expressed his best wishes for success at Stamford Bridge in a statement to Reuters.
For me, Mauricio was a fantastic manager. Excellent person and coach. greatly aided in my journey to where I am today. I'm grateful to him for that, Kane stated.
"Everyone has their own career and a future. I can only wish him luck, that's all I can say. I wish him well, although certainly not as well as we did.
One of Pochettino's greatest success stories has been Kane's ascent.
Kane was viewed as a talented prospect who may develop into a Premier League starter when the Argentine joined at White Hart Lane in 2014, but he was a distant third on the Spurs hierarchy behind Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado.
However, a succession of excellent outings in the Europa League and as a substitute led to Kane's promotion to the starting lineup.
When Kane scored a late winner in a game away at Aston Villa in November 2014, Pochettino thought it saved his job after having a rough start to his first season.
Kane, whose contract in north London has now expired, is expected to draw interest from Chelsea, according to a 90min report from April.
However, it is anticipated across Europe that the striker will remain at Spurs over the summer.
