The much-anticipated Manchester Derby and FA Cup final finally ended with victory for Manchester City. The Citizens are now on track to win their first historic treble as they await the Champions League final.

Much of the loss, however, can be attributed to Manchester United's poor start to the game. Some sloppy play and misjudgment ultimately cost the Reds the trophy. But several key United players contributed to that defeat. 3 Man United players played poorly today

As expected, the match was very close and could easily have gone either way. Both teams certainly had their chances, but one team took the lead.

• David de gea:

Despite winning the Premier League Golden Glove, there still seem to be many doubts for De Gea. The Spaniard today made some judgmental errors that cost the team dearly. In the first goal, De Gea was unable to rush to catch the ball despite seeing it from a distance. And for the second goal, his position disappointed him as he failed to adjust early enough to stop Gundogan's deflected shot.

• Christian Eriksen:

Eriksen was said to be the ghost of the game as the Danish midfielder failed to make the expected impact on the game. Additionally, he was tasked with moving forward and stopping Rodri, a task he failed miserably because his lack of agility and speed let him down.

•Jadon Sancho:

For a supposedly quality player, Jadon Sancho had a very bad game. The Englishman's performance was below average as he mostly avoided any duel, especially against Walker.

Liverpool transfer update

The Red Devils are said to be in the key position of signing Manu Koné while Jürgen Klopp could also offer a $43m bargain for Federico Chiesa.

Federico Chiesa of Juventus.

With new sporting director Jörg Schmadtke now in place, expect Liverpool to be linked with various names as the transfer market prepares to kick off.

Schmadtke has a lot of work to do, and he will most likely be linked with moves to recruit more Bundesliga talent, with one of them - Manu Koné - being knocked out in the first round.

However, midfield will not be the only place Liverpool invest. Jürgen Klopp also needs to find improvements in defence, and he did not rule out signing in attack when asked before the final game of the season.

The midfielder may therefore be the number one priority, but there is much more that can happen in the summer transfer market if the right players in other positions are available at the right price.

Here's Liverpool.com's verdict on the transfer rumors swirling around the Red Devils today, where two stars who could fit those criteria have been linked with a move to Anfield.

Manu Koné (Borussia Monchengladbach)

Tobi Altschäffl, a reporter for BILD in Germany, spoke to Empire of the Kop about the possibility of Manu Koné joining Liverpool this summer, with Borussia Mönchengladbach set to sell him.

"There are rumors that Chelsea and PSG want Koné but I think right now Liverpool is number one for him," Altschäffl said. "There's a new era starting in Liverpool's midfield and he could be a piece for that. In the end, maybe his $32m (£26m/€30m) plus $5.4m (£4.3m/5m) in bonuses - something like that. It could happen quickly if Liverpool push.

Liverpool.com says:

Koné certainly seems to be an option the Reds are considering, but whether he is the one Liverpool ultimately get remains to be seen. With Khephren Thuram, there's a lot of talent attached to the move at the moment and it's all about finding the right combination.

Federico Chiesa (Juventus)

Liverpool and Bayern Munich, 'above all' other clubs, are interested in signing Juventus forward Federico Chiesa this summer, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport (print, via Paisley Gates). Reports claim Chiesa could cost as low as $43m (£34m/€40m) as the Italian side look to raise funds, but the 25-year-old has missed multiple games through injury - 62 the game has passed the past two seasons, according to Transfermarkt.
