Due to the popularity of his celebration and moniker, he has attempted to register a trademark for both.

Haaland, through the law firm Schjdt, reportedly made three applications to the Norwegian Industrial Property Office.

The first was his signature's trademark. The second person to patent his lotus salute. the third to register "Erling Haaland" for trademark.

Knut Andreas Bostad, Head of Section in the Design and Trademark Department at the NIPO, reported that the first two of these applications were successful and accepted without any problems.

As a result, the 22-year-old now owns sole ownership of them in Norway and is eligible to submit an application for an international trademark.

a prior application submitted last year, owned by a 29-year-old man from Oslo, led to the use of his name being disallowed.

We have a Haaland application that was submitted to us on September 8, 2022, Bostad said to VG.

"As part of the items Erling Haaland has later applied for, they have applied to be able to use it on apparel, selling footwear, and a number of other things.

"Therefore, it is discouraging for us. since a registration is already present inside.

The former star of Borussia Dortmund has three months to appeal the ruling.

He has three choices moving ahead if he decides to continue trademarking his name.

First of all, he has the right to use the name without authorization and sue the present owner.

The second option is to pay for permission to use the name.

His last resort would be to purchase the name from the current owner.

When asked if celebrities often trademark their names, Bostad responded, "It happens especially for celebrities who show up, then some people think, 'Wow, I'm going to record this here'."

According to a trademark "duty" law in Norway, if a trademark is not used (to produce goods, etc.) within five years, the owner forfeits their rights.

Haaland most likely will participate in today's inaugural FA Cup final Manchester derby.
