"You get it, the treble has begun (for Manchester City).

"Unfortunately, Manchester United can't do anything about it. Pep Guardiola and his team played better that day.

'Ilkay Gundogan - he's a player. Big moments and big goals all the time and you can see why he's the captain. He is a high level player.

“But I loathe Man Utd. You know the importance of these games. It's hard to get. Man Utd were lucky with the penalty.

“But it is more important in terms of what it means for Man City. I think they have to do it now (triple win).

More generally on United's season, Ferdinand added:

“Man Utd have played two cup finals this year and won one. Get into the top 4 and back to the Champions League.

"If you say that at the start of the season every player at Man Utd will bite your hand and say it's a step in the right direction and an improvement over what we've achieved in recent years. This."

"The management of the club was not good (in the past). But Richard Arnold (general manager) came along and approached things in a different way.

'Erik ten Hag entered. The recruitment of Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez is huge. Raphael Varane when he was fit.

“Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford stepped up. But they will have to add more numbers if they want to get closer to this Manchester team.
