Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund are interested in Senegal defensive prospect Mikayil Faye.
The 18-year old centre back is a product of the renowned Diambars FC academy and plays in Croatia for NK Kustosija, another club with a reputation for developing young players.
Nicknamed 'The Monster', Faye is viewed as a player of great potential. He has earned plaudits for his no-nonsense defending and marauding style. He can play across the defence but is predominantly left footed and has impressed scouts playing for his club and Senegal U17s.
French sides Marseille and Reims wanted to sign him last summer but he stayed in Croatia as interest built from Europe's more elite clubs.
Chelsea and Dortmund are developing reputations for snapping up talented teenagers across the globe.
Dortmund try to offer a quicker pathway to their first team while Chelsea are exploring the prospect of investing in partnership clubs with the likes of Strasbourg in France or Sporting Lisbon where some of their squad could be loaned.
Kustosija are expecting bids this month as Faye continues to draw interest.
Ancelotti has been targeted by the CBF over the vacant head coach position of the Brazil national team, and their President Ednaldo Rodrigues has made no secret of his desire to hire Ancelotti.
Despite Ancelotti’s continual statement about staying at Real Madrid, Ednaldo has admitted that he has not yet giving up on trying to convince the Italian, as per MD.
“We made a plan, the ‘Plan A’ is Ancelotti. As they say in boxing, I haven’t thrown in the towel yet.”
Ancelotti has built a solid foundation at Real Madrid over the last couple of seasons, although his squad will be all-change for 2023/24, with the departures of numerous players, most notably. It remains to be seen whether a change is also required in the dugout.
Barcelona are one of three teams that have been strongly linked with Messi this summer, after he became a free agent. Leaving Paris Saint-Germain, Saudi Arabia and Inter Miami are also thought to be looking to bring the World Cup-winner in.
Hope was sparked in Barcelona that a deal might be in the offing after his father and agent was seen meeting Barcelona President Joan Laporta on Monday, but that optimism has subsided in the last 24 hours.
It appears with good reason. According to Hernan Castillo of Radio Continental in Argentina, Messi has made his decision. Castillo claims that Inter Miami will be his destination next season, and that there will be no more meetings about his future.
If that is the case, it appears that Messi has gone for the most family-friendly of the two options available, discounting Barcelona. The family already have a property in Miami, and in Southern Florida they remain in a latin culture too.
It was thought from Barcelona’s point of view that in order to present an offer to Messi, beyond just discussing terms, then the Argentine would have had to postpone a decision until they could make sales in order to balance his salary against restrictions on how much they can spend. It appears that Messi was unwilling to hold out in hope for Barcelona’s plans to come good.
