The Spanish midfielder scored City's lone goal in their 1-0 victory over Inter Milan in Istanbul.
Rodri acknowledges that his goal might have been the most significant in Manchester City's history.
On Saturday in Istanbul, City defeated Inter Milan 1-0 to win the Champions League final and complete the treble. The Spanish midfielder tucked home the winning goal.
The 26-year-old is now hoping that City can build on their historic victory in the European championship to create a long-lasting dynasty.
Since moving to Real Madrid for $62.8 million from Atletico Madrid four years ago, Rodri has become one of the best midfielders in the world. He said: "From my point of view, I want to thank the club. It's the fruit of years of labor at this amazing club.
"Despite the fact that the change wasn't simple, they trusted me to come here. I was experiencing a new culture, and I just happened to score the most significant goal in this club's history.
We merit this. Quite the season. We merit it.
"As I said before the game, defeating Inter was crucial so that we could establish a lasting legacy. Teams like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and AC Milan - clubs of this type - have done this in the past.
"We think we can succeed again. I believe that is why it is so crucial.
At the Ataturk Olympic Stadium, City were not playing at the top of their game.
With Inter proving to be resolute opponents, City was unable to repeat the gallant play that recently defeated Real Madrid and Arsenal, let alone the dominance they shown over Manchester United in the FA Cup final.
Instead, they leaned on their character and ability, and in the 68th minute, Rodri finally provided the game-changing goal with a controlled strike from just inside the penalty area.
"I think it was the only time I ventured forward in the game," Rodri recalled, "because I wanted to make sure the two strikers weren't at ease because Inter were playing so narrow.
